Kathleen Newcomb, Director of Programs and Operations
Kathleen went to further her education at Roger Williams University where she double majored in Secondary Education and History. It was there where she was able to learn more about the needs of children and how to design programs that can benefit a variety of children. Kathleen volunteered at many schools throughout Rhode Island and completed her Practicum and Student Teaching at Somerset High School. Kathleen graduated in May, and before joining the Boys and Girls Club was a Substitute Teacher throughout Marshfield Schools.
Kathleen came to the Boys and Girls Club of Marshfield to combine her love for children, her desire to put her ideas to good use, and to give the youth of Marshfield something fun and productive to do after school hours
Kathleen moved to Marshfield from Dorchester when she was only five years old. She has attended Governor Winslow Elementary School, Martinson Middle School, and Marshfield High School. Ever since she was little Kathleen knew she wanted to work with children. Throughout her years spent in the Marshfield School District she was involved with many school activities. Not only did she play soccer and softball, she also volunteered for the Project Reach Program. Kathleen was an active member of the Fashion Show committee, Prom committee, SAAD, and after graduation was involved with the Grad Night Live production.

Shawn M. Costa, Director of Development
Shawn joined the Boys and Girls Club of Marshfield, Inc after working in the Office of Institutional Advancement at Providence College where he completed his M.B.A. In addition to his MBA Shawn holds a B.A. from The George Washington University in Washington, DC.
Shawn is proud to call himself a “club kid” as a youngster Shawn was a regular at the Boys and Girls Club of Plymouth. Many of his fondest memories come from his experiences at the club and the staff who made a difference in his life.
Shawn was first employed at the club during his college years and upon graduation from G.W.U. was named the Program Director at the Boys and Girls Club of Plymouth. After a couple of brief stints with other employers he decided to continue his education at Providence College and was later employed at the college in its fundraising office. Shawn believes the club played a significant part in his personal success to date and is thrilled to be “back home” working in the Boys and Girls Club movement in his new role.
