Board Bios
Dan
Burke is currently serving as the President of the Board of Directors.
Dan has been a member of the Board for over five years. During that
time, he has served as Executive Vice President of the Board, Chairperson
of the Personnel Committee, Co-Chairperson of the Development Committee
and worked on many of the fundraising events sponsored by the Club.
Dan has lived in Marshfield for 21 years and his wife Susan and
he have two daughters, Lindsay age 12 and Emily age 11 who are proud
members of the BGCM and attend Marshfield Public Schools.
Professionally, Dan is employed as the Vice-President of Lifeworks
Inc. in Westwood, an organization that provides residential and
employment supports to over 140 individuals with development disabilities.
Also, he has coached and managed a Special Olympics sports program
for the South Norfolk County ARC for the past 20 years and has coached
basketball for Marshfield Youth Basketball and the Marshfield Recreation
Department for the past five years.

Beverly
Johnston is a full time community volunteer also serving Habitat
for Humanity, Talking Information Center and the Marshfield Food
Pantry. Her career has been in social work including agencies for
people with disabilities, people in poverty and those in need of
advocacy. She earned A bachelors degree in Sociology from Umass
Amherst and a Masters in Public Administration from Harvard University.
Other interests include politics, international human rights and
spending time with a large extended family -especially the children.
Marshfield has been home for 31 years to her and husband Phil and
children Ellen and Robert who are grown, living in other states
and pleased to have been raised here.

John Valianti - is the owner and
operator of South Shore Signs in Marshfield, which he founded in
1996. Along with his position on the Executive Board of the Boys
and Girls Club of Marshfield, John is the current president of the
Marshfield Chamber of Commerce, founder and board member of "Save
Fenway Park" and founder of "Independents for Better Government,"
an organization set up to help elect independents to public office.
He was also a former City Councilor of Marlborough, MA from 1985-1989.
Other interests include: politics, local isues, community service,
all sports including running, movies and long walks with his wife
Lori and their twins Olivia and Nicholas.

Diane Looney is the Financial Controller
at Laborsoft, Inc of Boston, a software development company. She
was elected Treasurer of the Board for the Boys & Girls Club
in May 2002 and is currently the chairperson of the Administrative
Committee, which deals with all human resource, financial, legal,
and IT issues at the Club. This committee is always looking for
new members to participate. Diane is an active member of the Town
of Marshfield - Marshfield Chamber of Commerce, Daniel Webster School
Advisory Committee, a realtor at South Shore Homes of Marshfield
and youth sports.
Diane has lived in Marshfield for 9 years with her husband Peter
and children Brendan, Molly and Nolan.

Deirdre Fleming has been the Boys
& Girls Club of Marshfield's secretary since 2001. She
works part time at Scituate Pediatrics and volunteers for Marshfield
Food Pantry
although she calls herself a "stay at home mom" for her
daughter Ellie and husband Kevin.

Lisa Seyffert is one of the founding members
of the board of directors and served as the secretary until 2001.
She has served as the club's treasurer since 2003. She served as
Sponge Bob in residence at the Haunted House in 2002.
Lisa
owns Pre-Game Sports in downtown Marshfield with her husband Mike.
Having grown up in Maine, she moved to Marshfield in 1997 with her
husband and her two boys, Drew and Nic. She has been active in the
town of Marshfield since moving here, both at the Daniel Webster
School, and as a teacher at Furnace Brook Middle School.

William G. Bowers, Jr.
Past President, Boys & Girls Club of Marshfield, Inc.
Bill
Bowers is Vice President for Commercial Lending at Hingham Institution
for Savings and has been in the banking and real estate financing
field on the South Shore for more than 18 years. He was first elected
president of the board for the Boys & Girls Club in May 2001
and re-elected in 2002, 2003 and 2004. He is the Co-Chair of Marshfield's
Grad Nite Live Committee. He is an active member of the Town of
Marshfield - Coast Guard Hill Building Committee, a Eucharistic
Minister at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Green Harbor, Chairman
of the Plymouth & South Shore Association of Realtors - Networking
Committee and the Year 2001 recipient of the Associations "Affiliate
of the Year" award.
Bill has been associated with several organizations on the South
Shore including; Special Olympics of Massachusetts, the Old Colony
United Way as well as the Marshfield, Plymouth Area and Metro West
Chambers of Commerce.
A life-time summer resident of Marshfield and a year-round resident
since 1985, Bill lives with his wife Nancy and sons Billy, Brian
and Stephen.

The
original Club was the Dashaway Club in Hartford, CT and it opened
in 1860.
The
Boys & Girls Club National Headquarters is in Atlanta, Georgia.
It has five regional service centers across the U.S. and a government
relations office in Washington, DC.
Nationally,
Boys & Girls Clubs serve 3.3. Million children.
Statistically,
57% of club members are male and 43% are female.
Former
Kid Club members view their experiences with the clubs
as highly positive, critical to their successes, and for many, even
essential to their survival.
The
influence and importance of staff members continues to be a focal
point for participants and has increased over time.
Typically,
one-third of the youth population in a given community is likely
to join the Boys & Girls Club.
One-fourth
of the membership uses the building each day after school.
Most
summer programs double after-school attendance.
