Annual Fund 2011 – 2012

Dear Friends,

For over seven years the Boys and Girls Club of Marshfield has been impacting the lives of  children and families in our community. The Club has been a place where children can explore their interests, create new friendships, and pursue their dreams.  This nurturing and supportive environment can be a catalyst for many bright futures.

As a single mother, the Boys and Girls Club of Marshfield allows my children to have a safe, fun, and positive place to go to after school. Their eyes widen with excitement each and every time they talk about their day at the club. They have made great friends, learned the importance of healthy eating, positive thinking, and physical activity.

Each day they complete their homework at the Club, bring home a creative arts & craft project, and even have shown me their anti-smoking ad they made in the computer lab. If not for this club, its amazing staff, and positive atmosphere, my children would not be the happy go lucky kids they are today.  I am so thankful that I live in a town that offers such a great place for kids.

As you may be aware the club is nearing the completion of its Build the Future Capital Campaign, as a result the construction of a 17,000 square foot clubhouse has commenced. This facility should be completed in the spring of 2012. In our new home the Club will continue to work toward the mission “to enable and inspire all young people to   realize their full potential as productive and responsible citizens, as well as become tomorrow’s capable leaders.” We will do so by expanding our program offerings in the core areas of the arts, character and leadership development, education and    career development, health and life skills, and sports and fitness.

While this new facility will give us the opportunity to expand our programs and have a greater impact in our community, it will also present some challenges; such as increased operating costs. The club’s leadership has identified areas where we can grow our revenues and continue to strengthen our financial health.  Our annual membership fee is nominal, therefore we must rely upon the generosity of individuals such as you. This investment comes in the form of donations to our annual “It Just Takes One Campaign”. Your gift to this campaign will demonstrate your commitment to our community and support of its children.

Here is how your gift will help us make a difference:

  • $1,000 will provide programming, for a member, for a year
  • $500 enables a child to participate in summer programming
  • $250 supplies the arts program for one month
  • $100 funds our Power Hour homework  program for one day
  • $25 purchases nutritional snacks for our Healthy Habits

We hope that you will find a way to join us this year in support of our growing club and the children of our community. It Just Takes One … are you that One?

Sincerely,

James Murphy
